Jess started playing rugby at Kendal RUFC aged 11 years old after a friend had started playing rugby and asked her to come along. As she went through the years the numbers of players at her age group reduced, this meant Jess was one of the 1st members of Tri counties tigers who joined together to train and play as a 1 team consisting of 5 different local clubs from the Cumbria, Lancashire & Yorkshire boarder. This journey helped Jess to get the opportunity to take part in the newly formed Girls DPP (Developing Player Pathway) Where she had the opportunity to play against other counties in the North of England.

While continuing with the growth of the Tigers, Jess also represented Cumbria U18s for 2 seasons as an U17 then Captaining as an U18 a year later. In this time Jess also went of the represent North East and Cumbria Centre of Excellence against Yorkshire.
