About Garry

Place of birth: Lancaster

Age: 35

Clubs played: Youth player Tynedale & Windermere, Senior Rugby at Kendal

Preferred position: Played 7 most of my adult days, moved to hooker at 28. Played every position except flyhalf and fullback for kendal 1sts (cameos count!!!)

Club / County honours:

Club - 300+ appearances for Kendal RUFC 1st team Nat 2 - North west 1 (L4 - L6). 3 x county cups, 2 x promotions.

County - Cumbria Under-13s (when it went that low all the way through to seniors), North Under-16s, England Trialist Under-16s, North Trialist Under-18s & 3 x Cumbria Cups

Favourite player and why: Maggi Alphonsi - pound for pound the best open-side to ever play the game (and she is a brilliant person to talk too!)

Favourite team:

In rugby 1991 England team (probably as they are the 1st team I can remember).

Other sports, 1996 Newcastle Utd (so close!)

Favourite tipple: Coffee

Favourite holiday venue: Lot et Garonne region of France. Beautiful place, good wine, great memories. My little boys first live professional rugby game was in Agen.

Most memorable game you've been involved in, and why: Loads of moments in games have sprung to mind. Probably Blackheath away in the National Cup 08/09 playing at the oldest club in the world, winning 22-8 (just found the match report) after being 8-0 down. The memorable part of the game was the journey home which involved the bus breaking down in the middle of London!

Other sport you've excelled in: Eating (That's a sport right?)

School & University attended: Lakes School & St Martin's College Lancaster
